At Gemeinschaft Home we have continued to operate throughout this difficult time; however, COVID-19 is already having a negative impact on our financial resources. When two Gemeinschaft Home residents tested positive for the novel coronavirus in April—resulting in a two-week quarantine and an immediate freeze on new intakes—our essential staff remained at work for the safety and security of the individuals we serve. Thankfully, the two residents have recovered, and we began accepting new intakes again in May.
Yet, we now face a revenue shortfall in our general operating budget, funds that sustain the day-to-day work of the organization. We ask for your help to soften the shock of this new fiscal reality and Keep Our Future Bright.
We have established new measures at Gemeinschaft Home, to increase sanitation and social distancing practices, to limit how often residents can leave the premises, and to restrict the presence of visitors on property. However, we must prepare for the possibility that another quarantine may be necessary in the near future, should a resident test positive, and we still must pay our bills, and keep our staff at work. We need to continue our mission of working toward restorative justice.
We need to Keep Our Future Bright!
2020 Vision For the Future Fundraising Campaign
"Small Change for a Big Change!"
We are in the midst of a major fundraising effort to expand and improve our programs and facilities, so that those we serve can return to their communities healthier, better-prepared for life’s challenges, and less likely to return to incarceration.
Help us reach our goal to raise $220,000 by the end of December, 2020!
FULLY FUNDED Workout Room $20,000 Our residents need to work on maintaining healthy bodies. A workout room is the number one request from residents when asked how Gemeinschaft Home might be improved.
FULLY FUNDED Therapy Garden $10,000 The benefits of being outdoors and working with nature are well documented. Gardening conveys a sense of responsibility, brings out nurturing instincts, and builds patience while it soothes.
Licensed Counselor $70,000 We have an excellent staff, but we need to hire a counselor licensed to provide cutting edge therapy for our residents on site.
Residential Women’s Program $100,000 Women make up a larger and larger percentage of incarcerated felons. We want to provide them with services similar to the ones we provide for men but tailored to their own tough circumstances.
Upgraded HVAC . $20,000 Our HVAC units are so old that we can no longer get parts for repair. We want to replace units when they fail with more energy efficient units.
